Our Origins –
Early Production

Freudenberg’s journey in thermal insulation began in 1938 when it started the serial production of nonwovens, laying the foundation for modern insulation technology.

By 1963, Freudenberg began producing nonwovens for insulation materials in Germany. In the same year, insulation production commenced at Japan Vilene Company, marking the start of our expansion in Asia.

In 1983, insulation production expanded to Korea with the launch of operations in the Korean facility. These early years set in motion a journey of growth and discovery.

Expanding Manufacturing Capabilities

Our commitment to meeting global demand has driven significant expansions in manufacturing capabilities.

In 2005, we established thermal insulation production in China – a key milestone in our growth. To further strengthen our capacity, a new comfortemp® production line was added to China site in 2020.

In 2024, we expanded with a state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Vietnam, reinforcing our ability to deliver high-quality insulation solutions on a global scale.

Building the Brand

In 2017, the comfortemp® trademark was officially registered, marking a shift towards the development of a distinct brand identity with an independent mission and vision.

This transition enhanced our competitiveness in the market, fostered customer trust, and ensured long-term recognition of our innovative insulation solutions. By establishing comfortemp® as a trusted name in apparel insulation, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to delivering high-quality products that meet the evolving needs of partners and customers worldwide.
